Another Hole In The Head

2010 dates: July 8th – 29th

Another Hole In The Head Film Festival is San Francisco’s very own independent horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy film festival. If you are looking for mayhem, blood, time machines, ghosts, vampires, sociopaths, ninjas, monsters, or scantily dressed Japanese girls this is definably the festival for you. Films come from all over the world and alongside the American films there are many entries from Asia (Mostly exploitation) and Europe. As far as the mood of the films the festival covers the full spectrum and contains at least one film for every audience. Horror fans will get the most out of it with films that can be categorized as B-Movie Horror, Horror-Comedy, Monster, Torture Porn, Slasher, Super Natural and Abstract. The Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans will also be pleased with the supply of dark, suspenseful and thought provoking films that Another Hole In The Head has to offer. Asian Exploitation films seem to be a big draw as well and you are bound to find some extremely violent Samurai, Ninja, and lady assassin films. The festival also usually contains a dark drama or two just to even things out. If you are looking for a fun B-movie or the next independent Horror/Sci-Fi master piece this is the festival you don’t want to miss.

Our Reviews And Trailers:

A Serbian Film (Horror/Torture) “A Serbian Film is a torture porn film, but it’s a torture porn film with a message that many politically correct films can’t make.” – Nick

Dr. S Battles the Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies (B-Movie/Zombie) “News Flash: Weed actually turns people into zombies.” - Nick

Strigoi (Vampire/Dark Comedy) “Last year it was Thirst that gave the vampire genre a new take, the year before that it was Let The Right One In, this year it’s Strigoi” - Adam

Symbol (Fantasy/Comedy) “Symbol is definitely its own monster, and perhaps one that will make both fans and newcomers to Matsumoto’s work say WTF” - Adam

Ticked-Off Tranies With Knives (Revenge/grindhouse) “I think the title sort of says it all.” - Adam

The Violent Kind (Horror/Sci-fi) “An horrofic fantastical gore-filled film with a smart script, but not too smart for its own good.” - Adam

Tucker & Dale vs Evil (Horror/Comedy) ”It is almost as if Shaun and Ed from Shaun of the Dead were replaced with Tucker and Dale and the zombie plot was swapped out for a backwoods killing spree.” - Adam

American Grindhouse (Documentary) “This informative and in-depth exploration of all things exploitative discusses what it means to be labeled ”Grindhouse”. - Adam

Nightmares In Red, White And Blue (Documentary) “horror has always and will undoubtedly continue to be societies mirror into our darkest fears and this film reflects that sentiment better than most fictionalized horror films ever could.” - Adam

Phasma Ex Machina (Horror/Suspense) “what this film does have is an original ghost story script with just enough menacing moments to leave you with an eerie creeped out feeling.” – Adam

Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre (Horror/Slasher) “Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre resembles The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on a boat.” – Nick

Shadow (Horror/Torture) “A film that gives post war horrors a face, albeit a sadistic, redneck and torturous one with gouged-out eye brows and a frog licking tormentor.” – Adam

Yatterman (Fantasy/Adventure) “A live action take on the popular Anime series from the 1970′s.  In this version there is a giant robot sex scene!” - Adam

Jimmy Tupper VS The Goatman of Bowie (Horror/Shaky Cam) “While this will not go down in history as being one of the best hand held camcorder films of all time, it will not be the worst either” - Adam

RoboGeisha (Action/Comedy) “From sword fighting to robot fighting to building fighting to deep-fried fighting to handicap fighting, there’s plenty of fighting to behold.” -Tim

Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl (Vampire/Gore) “From the wrist cutting competitions to the group of girls dressed in racially offensive rubber-masked black face, this film is just plain weird.” - Adam

Alien VS Ninja (Action/Sci-Fi) “Combine the worse ninja movie you have ever seen with the worse alien movie you have ever seen and you get Alien VS Ninja.” – Nick

Fell (Horror/Melodrama) “How does one deal with an abusive childhood?  Easy, by murdering any one with a penis” – Adam

Lady Terminator (Action/Fantasy) “Basically, substitute the James Cameron’s Terminator robot for a terminator sea witch, add in some stupefying action scenes and voilà, Lady Terminator.” - Adam

Death Kappa (B-Movie/Monster) “I would compare Death Kappa to a bad episode of Power Rangers… but thats being generous.” – Nick

Samurai Princess (Absurd Violence/Action) “You would think that a film featuring fountains of gore and scantily clad women in almost every scene would be, at the very least, somewhat enjoyable.  You’d be wrong.” – Adam

Silent Night, Zombie Night (Zombie/Horror) ”The only thing that even had to do with Christmas was one Santa zombie and a few decorations in the houses. What a waste of a good concept” - Tim
