Italy’s newest films and directors will be showcased at Landmark’s Embarcadero Center Cinema in this year’s New Italian Cinema Festival. The festival will open with a three-film tribute to Daniele Luchetti followed by eight films by up-and-coming Italian directors. The festival will run from November 13th to the 20th and close out with a party at Fior d’Italia.

Films in the festival will cover topics such as corporate malfeasance, office politics, rural life and war.  Out of all the films in the festival I am most exited for Claudio Cupellini‘s A Quiet Life and Andrea Molaioli‘s The Jewel.

Oh, those passionate Italians!

Bonjourno, San Francisco film fans!  When I think of Italian cinema and the many great directors the country has spawned, names such as Fellini (Armarcord), Leone (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly), Argento (Suspiria), Pasolini (Mamma Roma), Bertolucci (The Conformist), and Antonioni (Blow-Up) immediately spring to mind.

So what if none of these men’s films will be playing this November at the New Italian Cinema film festival.  This is a festival highlighting the newest in new by bringing to the Bay Area some of the best that Italy has to offer.  Plus, many of the filmmakers, themselves will be present.  So, don’t miss your chance to see the next Fellini or Antonioni.  Follow the jump for complete schedule Read More…
