For one weekend, September 10 – 11, Iranian cinema comes to the Bay Area, more specifically, The San Francisco Art Institute (800 Chestnut St.). Some of the highlights this year include a short film from the director of Offside and This Is Not A Film, Jafar Panahi, a strong musical film program that includes a live performance by percussionist Pezhham Akhavass, and a tribute to filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan. The festival also boasts a slew of exclusive and rare screenings.
For a film buff, it’s sad to say the amount of Iranian films I have seen I can count on two hands. For that reason alone I am somewhat excited for this festival’s arrival. Anyone else excited for this? Schedule and ticket info can be found after the jump.
Tickets cost $10 for a general ticket, $8 for students. Festival Pass is $100 for general and $80 for students. Click here to buy your ticket(s).
