As the title of this post has already indicated, the 2010 Arab Film Festival will be arriving at the Castro Theatre on October 14th, and departs on the 17th. There are plenty of selections to enjoy or not enjoy, depending on if you like the film(s) or not, duh.
This year’s Opening Night and Centerpiece Event is Algeria’s 2009 official Academy Awards entry, Masquerades. apparently the Arab Film Festival community deemed this film more important than Scooby-Doo in Arabian Knights, as the latter, as far as I know, has never been shown at any Arab Film Festival since its initial release way back in 1994. Outrageous as this is, I still implore you to come out to the festival, with or without your Scooby-snacks.
Follow the jump for the complete Castro schedule and links to all other participating theatres.
Once the festival leaves San Francisco on the 17th, that does not mean that it is ending. from the 22nd to the 24th the festival will be over in the east bay at Berkeley’s Shattuck Cinemas.
Down in the South Bay, San Jose’s Camera 12 Cinemas will be playing festival host from the 16th to the 17th.
Even further down south you can check out the festival’s offerings at the Writers Guild of America Theatre in Los Angeles on the 23rd and 24th (Will they hurry up and build that dang bullet train already).
